This is the agreement families sign to enrol a puppy in the Nextgen Jumpstart Program. It is a companion to the Puppy Purchase Agreement and does not replace it. Bracketed items are filled in per puppy.

1. What this is

The Buyer has purchased the Puppy under the Purchase Agreement. Instead of taking the Puppy home at eight weeks, the Buyer has asked the Breeder to keep raising the Puppy under the Nextgen Jumpstart Program for an extra period. This agreement covers that extra period only. The Program is optional; it was never a condition of buying a puppy from us, and it never will be.

2. Program, term and the single slot

Tier enrolled: Jumpstart 4 (go-home about 12 weeks), Jumpstart 8 (about 16 weeks), Jumpstart 12 (about 20 weeks), or Jumpstart 16 (about 24 weeks).
Start: the Puppy’s eight-week mark. Go-Home Day: the agreed date, adjusted only by written agreement or under section 10.
One puppy per litter. The Breeder accepts only one puppy from each litter into the Program. The slot goes to the first family whose Program deposit (section 3) is received, and it is held only while the fee schedule is kept. If the slot is already taken, the Breeder keeps a short list and offers the slot in order if the first family withdraws before the start date.
Enrolment closes at the Puppy’s seven-week mark so the curriculum starts on time.

3. Fees and payment schedule

The Program fee is separate from and in addition to the purchase price.
Program deposit: $1,000 at reservation, applied to the Program fee. This is what secures the litter’s single slot.
First half: the balance of 50% of the Program fee, together with any unpaid balance of the purchase price, by the Puppy’s seven-week mark.
Second half: the remaining 50% at the midpoint of the tier.
ACH or check preferred; cards carry a 3% processing fee. No Oregon sales tax applies.
If a payment is late by more than seven days after a written reminder, the Breeder may release the slot to the next family; amounts paid are handled under section 10.
Holding past Go-Home Day at the Buyer’s request: the first three days are free, then $35 per day, payable at pickup.

4. What the Breeder will do (activities, not outcomes)

The Breeder raises the Puppy in the Breeder’s home, in a puppy space separate from the Green Acres K9 Resort boarding and daycare population, and works daily on:

Crate: fed and settled in a crate, enters on cue, rests quietly with the door closed for increasing periods.
Sleep: overnight in a crate, working toward sleeping through the night.
Potty: a fixed outdoor routine on a schedule, with a bell or door cue, and a written accident log.
Handling: paws, ears, mouth and body daily; nail trims; brushing; being picked up and held; collar and harness; calm behaviour on a grooming table; for Goldens, a bath and blow-dryer.
Leash introduction: collar or harness and a light leash, following the handler, first loose-leash walks on the property and, once the veterinarian clears the vaccine schedule, short walks in new places.
Name and attention: responding to the call name; coming when called over short distances.
Manners: sit and down on cue, waiting at doors and for food, redirecting mouthing onto toys.
Socialization: household noises, surfaces, stairs, car rides, adults and children of the Breeder’s household, other vaccinated known dogs, and outings after the veterinarian’s clearance, tracked on a written socialization checklist.
Jumpstart 12 and 16: outings to new places after clearance; practice of the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test behaviours so the Puppy is ready to complete the test with the Buyer in a six-week class (section 7).
Jumpstart 16: loose-leash walking past people and dogs, stays with duration and distance, settling in public places, and preparation for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, which the Breeder will arrange with an independent AKC evaluator when the Puppy is ready. Passing is not promised (section 8).

Methods are reward-based. No electronic collars, prong collars, or physical corrections are used on any puppy in this Program.

5. Care

The Breeder provides food, water, shelter, exercise, grooming, routine veterinary visits, vaccinations and deworming on the veterinarian’s schedule, and microchip registration, all included in the fee. If the Puppy needs non-routine veterinary care before Go-Home Day, the Breeder pays for it, notifies the Buyer the same day, and consults the Buyer on any non-emergency decision over $500.

6. Communication and visits

Updates: a short video at least twice a week, and a written weekly report card with photos covering the checklist items worked that week, what went well, and what is next.
Visits: by appointment after the Puppy’s tenth week, up to one visit per week.
Questions: we answer messages within one business day.

7. Go-Home Day and after

Before Go-Home Day: a video call to walk through the Puppy’s routine and cues, and a personalized cue video showing the Puppy responding to each cue it knows.
On Go-Home Day: a 60-minute handoff lesson, the written Go-Home Plan, and a letter from the Puppy’s handler describing the Puppy’s temperament, habits, and the next four weeks.
Delivery: for Program puppies, delivery to the Buyer’s home is free within two hours’ drive of Boring, Oregon; beyond that, the Breeder’s published transport schedule applies. The Breeder meets the Buyer in person at handoff.
After: one scheduled follow-up session by phone or video about four weeks after Go-Home Day, and lifetime breeder support.
S.T.A.R. Puppy (Jumpstart 12 and 16): the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certificate is earned by the Puppy with the Buyer by completing a six-week class run by an AKC-approved CGC Evaluator and passing the test at the end. The Breeder cannot award it before Go-Home Day.

8. What is not promised, and the Jumpstart Promise

No guarantee of behaviour. Puppies are not programmable. Progress depends on the individual puppy and, after Go-Home Day, on the Buyer’s consistency. It is normal for some behaviours to slip for days or weeks after a move to a new home. The Breeder does not promise that the Puppy will be house-trained, crate-trained, leash-trained, or reliable on any cue at any age, and makes no promise about performance in the Buyer’s home.
No titles are promised. The Breeder does not promise that the Puppy will pass the S.T.A.R. Puppy test, the Canine Good Citizen test, or any other evaluation.
The Jumpstart Promise: if, on the scheduled Go-Home Day, the Puppy has not completed the written Program checklist (Schedule A) for its tier, the Breeder keeps the Puppy in the Program at no additional charge until the checklist is complete, for up to two additional weeks. If the checklist is still incomplete after that, the Breeder refunds the pro-rated fee for the unfinished items. That is the entire remedy for any complaint about training.
Disclaimer of implied warranties. THE PROGRAM IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” THE BREEDER DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ORS 72.3160 ALLOWS. The health guarantee in the Purchase Agreement is unaffected by this section.

9. Ownership, risk and insurance

Title to the Puppy passes to the Buyer at physical delivery on Go-Home Day, and not before. Until then the Puppy remains in the Breeder’s care and the Breeder bears the risk of loss. If the Puppy dies or becomes unplaceable through illness or injury before Go-Home Day, the Breeder refunds every payment made under this agreement and the Purchase Agreement in full, or, at the Buyer’s choice, applies them to a puppy from a later litter. That is the Buyer’s entire remedy for loss before Go-Home Day.

10. Changes and cancellation

By the Buyer before the start date: the Program deposit is refunded less a $500 administrative charge if the slot is filled by another family, and forfeited if it is not; the Puppy goes home at eight weeks under the Purchase Agreement.
By the Buyer after the start date: amounts paid are non-refundable but may be transferred to a later litter’s Program within twelve months. The Buyer may take the Puppy home early on seven days’ notice; no refund is due for unused weeks.
Changing tier: a Buyer may move up a tier at any time before the midpoint by paying the difference; moving down is at the Breeder’s discretion.
By the Breeder (illness, temperament, or a change that makes the Program unsuitable for this Puppy): pro-rated refund of the Program fee for unused weeks and, if the Breeder judges the Puppy should go home early, immediate Go-Home Day at no charge.
Go-Home Day may move by up to seven days at the veterinarian’s advice.

11. Photos and video

The Breeder may photograph and film the Puppy during the Program and use the material to show families how the Program works. The Buyer’s name and location are never published without written consent.

12. General

Oregon law governs. Venue is Clackamas County, Oregon. This document and the Purchase Agreement are the whole agreement on the Program; changes must be in writing and signed by both parties. If a court finds any clause unenforceable, the rest stands. Each party has read this agreement and had the chance to ask questions.

Schedule A — Program checklist (initialled on Go-Home Day)

All tiers: enters crate on cue and rests with door closed 30 minutes while handler present; sleeps overnight in crate six or more hours; potty routine on schedule with accident log; tolerates paws, ears, mouth handled and nails trimmed twice; wears collar or harness and follows on a light leash; responds to name and comes from 10 feet indoors; sit and down on cue with a food lure; car rides, stairs and new surfaces with the socialization checklist attached; has met a range of adults, children and known vaccinated dogs; personalized cue video and handler letter delivered; written Go-Home Plan delivered and 60-minute handoff lesson done; follow-up session scheduled.
Jumpstart 8 and up: loose-leash walk 15 steps; waits at doors and for meals.
Jumpstart 12 and up: outings to three new places after vet clearance; S.T.A.R. test behaviours practised with a readiness note attached.
Jumpstart 16: walks past people and dogs on leash; 30-second stay at 10 feet; settles in a public place; CGC preparation complete and an evaluator session arranged or attempted.
